Fastest way to learn a language
I love travelling to remote places in the world. You meet some of the most interesting people in the world. Usually, when I’m cruising to some unknown place, or unknown bar I always manage to piss someone off. For instance when in Europe I always forget that we have to pay to use the bathrooms, um toilets, over there. Last time I was in Poland I had the bathroom attendent chasing me and yelling at me in some language I didn’t understand. Also when I was in Prague, I had a nosebleed so I walked into some restaurant that we were walking past and grabbed a few napkins for my nose. The bartender ran out screaming and yelling at me for a few lousy napkins. Hey, I offered to give them back after I was done with them ;p.
Anyhow, I told myself the next time I go to Europe I want to know what the guys are yelling to me about. I did some research and I found the Pimsleur language CD’s to be the most effective way to learn a new language. It reinforces the learning because you interact with the speaker and they repeat phrases over and over until it it lodged in your memory. I read somewhere that once you hear something 18 times in a row that it becomes lodged in your noggins forever.
Check them out from your local library. If they don’t have it buy here from Amazon.
If you finish all 90 lessons you should have the capacity of a four year old (maybe less). That’s just enough to help you find your way around a new city.
